The food is o.k., except that they ran out of some of the items even though it was only 12:00, they start at 11:00. The staff needs to be replaced. In the dining room which is maybe a dozen tables you have three waiters. two of them seam to be moving all the time and one of them doesn't care less. My wife ordered a mimosa and i ordered orange juice. we also ordered coffee. we were brought two mimosa's. I told the waitress that I was an ex alcoholic and I just drank that and she laughed. I guess it's funny to her to make somebody fall. we received the coffee when the meal was almost over. everyone else around us kept asking for coffee also. I would assume that companies that advertise on Groupon type companies are trying to bring in new customers. I'm sure it's expensive first they discount the meal at least 50% and then the advertising company get's probably 50%. The owner of this restaurant would have been better off to just throw the money on the beach.

Like many others...saw a brunch deal on TravelZoo and decided to give it a chance. Came here one Sunday morning with my wife. As we walked up to the restaurant area, we waited by a table with a register or maybe a POS system (something of some sort). Finally after several minutes, was greeted and we were sat, but it was somewhat confusing because a couple of staff members stared at each other while they were trying to seat us like if they were giving each other a cue to seat us. Finally the staff decide to seat us in a table of their choice...being that it was a beautiful day outside, my wife kindly requested to sit outside where the view is. We were then greeted by an unwelcomed feeling. Finally they decided to sit us outside and I mentioned the TravelZoo voucher and showed them an electronic version. They said they cannot accept it and it needs to be a hard copy. So they send us to the hotel's business office to print it out, but you need a room key to get it. As we walked to the front desk area, the concierge was kindly to greet us as we had a 'lost' look in our face. The concierge kindly asked waht we needed and was greatful enough to allow us to use his computer in the concierge desk and print it from there. THUMBS UP for their concierge! We finally made our way to the table outside and finally settled down. We get up towards the brunch buffet and let me tell you...it was nothing out of this world. Few selections, nothing to brag about nor run back to Caracol for. The buffet area was small and 'cute.' All the food was good, edible. But don't think it is worth the regular price you would normally pay. Thank goodness for the TZ deal! The best thing about the entire meal was the seat that we kindly had to request for and was given to us after a great deal of thinking by the staff... The view we had was great, overseeing the pool and beach area and enjoying the beautiful day out. yelp.com/biz_photos/cara…

Small little buffet area. What's the point of eating at a ocean front hotel when you can't even see the ocean view? Food was not tasty at all. Don't waste your money.

As I am writing this I am standing an still waiting for my car from the valet service. It has been a very long uncomfortable 40 minutes so far of standing and waiting on a full stomach for our car. I am not a person to write reviews often, but this has been a very poorly run restaurant and company from the first second we walked in. Yes we did come here because of a groupon, but I usually think of groupings as being a marketing tool for companies that are under recognized. This was a disaster. First we had reservations, but when we showed up there was a wait of about 20 minutes. Then when we went to the buffet all of the plates on the table were dirty and we had to ask 2 people to bring out clean plates. The food is ok, nothing too spectacular, but they did bring us unlimited mimosas... And our waiter was nice, but now the warm and fuzzy feeling that we had gotten from the mimosas has worn off as we wait for our car. This is a horribly disorganized organization! Just avoid it. Hopefully our car will arrive soon so that we can escape!

I got a Travelzoo deal for Sunday brunch and liked the thought of mimosas on the beach, so I went for it. I will not be going back. I think of myself as a positive person, so I'll go with the positive side first. The day was gorgeous and we did indeed have mimosas with a lovely view of the beach. The hotel lobby and restaurant are new and clean. Our server, Neville was a friendly and funny Jamaican and did his best to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Now I'll share my reasons for giving this one star. First, we went to the restaurant area of the hotel and waited for several minutes before anyone greeted us. We were directed to a young lady behind the desk, so we went there. Nina was the young lady, according to her name badge. She did not make eye contact, smile or greet us at all. My husband approached her and said hello. She asked us if we had reservations (we did) and could not find them initially (no eye contact the whole time this conversation was going on) and eventually did find them. She then asked us for the print out of our Travelzoo voucher (Travelzoo said we could show an electronic version, which was apparently not the case). We showed her where it said we could show the electronic version, but she told us that she couldn't take that. I'm ok with her upholding the policy of her employer. I get that. It was her attitude (not helpful or friendly) that I had issue with. She told us we could visit the business center of the hotel to print it out, so we went there. We needed a room key to enter and since we weren't guests, we didn't have one. So...we went to the front desk. The young lady there directed us to the concierge who was engaged with a family visiting the area. My husband asked him if we could just get a room key from the front desk and he said that we did, in fact, need to get the key from the front desk since he didn't have any. Keep in mind that he was working across the room from the young lady and they were having a bit of an argument as to who would be responsible for letting us into that business center. The concierge then summoned another employee who was walking by to let us in. Why was this getting so complicated? I just wanted to eat the meal I had already paid for two months ago. Not only were my husband and I witness to this three ring circus of ineptitude, so were the hotel guests that were needing the service of these hotel employees. We FINALLY got into the business center, printed out the voucher and made our way back to Nina. Did she take the voucher? Nope. We were then greeted by Neville, who took us outside and served us there. The food was unmemorable and certainly not up to par with the price. I'm very glad I paid only the travelzoo price. Full price for this buffet is $35 per person. NO WAY is it worth it. Not even close. Keep in mind, I LIVE HERE in Miami and I know that you will have to be willing to fork over some dough down here for brunch. I'm ok with that, but not for this food. It was slightly better than Denny's. Don't waste your time with this place. If you want to enjoy the beautiful view, then do that and enjoy a drink, but this is not the place for Sunday brunch.

My husband and I just went to Caracol through a steal of a deal from Gilt City, which included two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts and a bottle of wine. I'm not sure why other people rated this restaurant so poorly, but we did go for dinner and not for brunch. We were able to sit outside on the patio which overlooked the ocean instead of the cramped-looking over-air conditioned inside area. Beautiful views, but you could hear kids screaming in the pool and the patio was not just restricted to restaurant guests. When the sun went down, a maintenance man brought out a big light and some candles to help us see. It was still dark out there, but it was enough. Because we took advantage of a deal, we were only given a limited menu to choose from for both food and wine. However, we were happy with the selections overall. We started with the Mediterranean Salad and Ceviche del Mar. Both were very good, although I enjoyed the salad more. I really liked they they used Bibb lettuce in both dishes - a nice change of pace from traditional Romaine. I had the Wild Mushroom Risotto for dinner and my husband had some kind of beef with chimichurri sauce and fingerling (?) potatoes. He said it was good, but we were surprised that he was basically served a beef roll-up complete with toothpick. My risotto was done well. It was very rich in a good way and had a generous serving of mushrooms mixed throughout. We both decided on the chocolate souffle with vanilla bean ice cream for dessert as neither of us are flan fans. The souffle was light and chocolatey, but I didn't care for the consistency of the ice cream. It tasted very frothy to me. Our waiter was very nice and, like I said, the view was great. Plus, we got free valet!

Went with a Travel zoo voucher... For the money it was just ok...I wouldn't return... Pros: Nice view when seated outside - people were attentive when available, they seemed very understaffed... Live music that was pleasant Cons Food selection is very poor..THIS IS NOT A BREAKFAST BUFFET. No omelets, pancakes, waffles, or french toast. They only had scrambled eggs (those were very good) bacon and sausage....a few fruits (no berries :() +crapy yogurt parfaits that were room temp! They also had several proteins such as salmon, chicken wings and a beef carving station +pastas. I was very dissapointed

OMG They have amazing pancakes in this place! I was so excited for this!! They were thick and crispy and delicious :) You know how it is when you travel on business. Hotel food is normally Ehhh so to actually like the food is always a plus! I was here on business so ate most of all meals here most of the food was good for the most part. Great coffee (I dream of the coffee and pancakes lol), great appetizers, great wine LOL. Although, on the negative side, I tried a fish plate (some tropical fish, tilapia?? Idk?) one night that I did not like, it was very bland and gross to me :( My gf Denise had the buttery salmon and she said it "was juicy on the inside with the right amount of crispy edges"...I was jealous LOL. She wanted me to say she gives it 5 stars....2 thumbs up :) FYI, this restaurant is on the lobby floor of the hotel..sorry Resort. Its pretty fancy so don't go in there expecting a casual meal lol....come in wearing pearls and a fancy outfit hahaha. And its NOT cheap!!

Well, it seems that Stefan T. and I had a similar experience at Caracol. My family of four (I bought 2 Travelzoo vouchers for us to use) ate there today, too. First off, if I had paid full price (supposedly $140 for four before tax and tip) I really would have been ticked off. As it turned out I still spent $100 ($39 X 2 + tax + added on 18% tip). My wife and I have been to a lot of really nice brunch buffets and this one in no way made the cut. To start, the server, who was very nice, never offered once to refill our water glasses. She also never offered us coffee! By the time we remembered to ask for the coffee we had almost finished our meals. The food selection was extremely limited for a pricey buffet. Like others have mentioned, there were no pancakes, french toast, waffles, etc. The biscuits and gravy were not kept hot, and neither were the scrambled eggs. They obviously didn't pay much attention to the upkeep of the sternos. The food overall was nothing special. Someone else also mentioned the valet parking debacle; they weren't kidding, it was at least a 45 minute wait. As it turned out they were so disorganized that they somehow put my keys in front of about thirty people and we got out of there in less than 15 minutes! We guiltily ran to our car before people started screaming at us instead of the valets and sped away. :)
